Mother Tongue–Based Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE)

Children learn best when they understand the language used in the classroom. ECPC promotes mother tongue–based multilingual education to improve learning outcomes, reduce dropout rates, and strengthen children’s confidence and identity—particularly in early grades.
Key activities include:
Development of culturally relevant learning materials in local languages
Teacher training and classroom mentoring
Community awareness on the value of mother tongue education
Collaboration with schools and local governments

Language and Cultural Preservation

Many indigenous languages and cultural practices in Nepal are at risk of disappearing. ECPC works with elders, youth, and researchers to document, preserve, and promote linguistic and cultural heritage so it can be passed on to future generations.
Key activities include:
Documentation of oral histories, folklore, and traditional knowledge
Language documentation and revitalization initiatives
Intergenerational knowledge-sharing programs
Cultural events, publications, and awareness campaigns

Sustainable Livelihood and Agro-Based Initiatives

Education and cultural preservation must be supported by economic security. ECPC advances community-based livelihood initiatives that improve income while respecting local knowledge and environmental sustainability.
Key activities include:
Agro-based skills training and enterprise development
Support for cooperatives and community-led businesses
Promotion of sustainable and climate-resilient farming practices
Linking livelihoods with education and cultural identity
