Godana (Traditional Tattoo): Remembering Cultural Knowledge

Godana, the traditional tattoo practice found in several communities of the Lumbini area, was discussed as part of cultural awareness activities. Elders spoke about how tattoos once symbolized identity, protection, and social belonging.

Rather than practicing tattoos directly, participants learned about the designs, symbols, and stories connected to them. This approach allowed young people to understand cultural meaning while respecting personal choice and changing social contexts.
